What people are talking about is more akin to it not having been UPGRADED with further development work for over six months, like many apps sitting on your phone or even desktop browser that makes you wonder if they're getting stale. So there's been some confusion on whether it's being updated or not. But note that even though the extension hasn't been updated, the filter lists which do all the heavy lifting remain updated automatically behind the scenes every several minutes. I always test by visiting yts.am, and then click around and so on, and uBlock ORIGIN blocks popups and ads and far more than what these others don't, and immediately without even any further customization, which one can do if they even wanted to go further.Īnd since uBlock ORIGIN hasn't been updated since April 2018, one might feel the need to be more cautious. (Note Ghostery Lite installs TWO extensions at the same time, just like uBlock not uBlock ORIGIN does - uBlock ORIGIN installs only one - a blocker that DOES NOT generate the reading passwords and more warning, and a UI that DOES generate the warning.) BUT, none of them work at all as well as uBlock ORIGIN. But we really have to ask ourselves: at what cost? I installed several of the basic free ad blockers, like Ghostery Lite, Porn Block Plus, Ad And Stuff Blocker, Ka-Block!, and others, and they don't generate that scary warning. The security permissions for uBlock ORIGIN state under SAFARI > PREFERENCES > EXTENSIONS > "Can read sensitive information from webpages, including passwords, phone numbers, and credit cards on all webpages, and can see when you visit all pages." So I'm now extremely wary of the security warnings within Safari for none of the basic ad blockers, but that are listed under more advanced blockers like uBlock ORIGIN.
Problem is, I'm increasingly more security conscious about all the data breaches and hacking that goes on within, well, what seems like virtually every app. So for newbies only: If you don't see the word ORIGIN immediately after you see uBlock, you are NOT downloading uBlock ORIGIN, which is its actual name, not merely a description. We too often make it far too confusing and have all the information scattered everywhere. Have always preferred uBlock ORIGIN (in caps, because most people are newbies and STILL think uBlock and uBlock ORIGIN are the same extension.) That's not to sound elitist. iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch wallpapers.These belong in the beta subreddits listed below. No content related to piracy or illegal activities.We may approve your post if it is a high-level issue that can't be found on page 1 of Google.
